Unexpected Business 3

The variety show “Unexpected Business 3” starring Jo In Sung and Cha Tae Hyun recently faced a hygiene controversy. In Sung Cs was criticized for not wearing masks when preparing kimbap for sale.

In the midst of the “Unexpected Business 3” controversy, Korean media actually praised Chef Baek Jong Won’s “The Genius Paik 2” program. The program depicts the process of starting and running a business in another country to promote Korean food.

“Restaurant management expert Baek Jong Won’s strict sense of cleanliness really stands out in this program,” wrote Ten Asia.

“This is something that Baek Jong Won always emphasizes in a number of shows such as ‘Baek Jong Won’s Alley Restaurants’,” he added.

Chef Baek’s expertise is considered to shine even more in episode 2 “The Genius Paik 2” which aired on Sunday (5/11). In this episode, they managed to attract customers in Spain with steamed eggs to much praise.

“Even though they are busy cooking five dishes, Baek Jong Won, Lee Jang Woo, and Kwon Yuri don’t take off their hats, gloves, and masks in the kitchen. It’s so hot that a big fan is turned on all day, but cleanliness doesn’t seem to be compromised at all, ” explained the Ten Asia journalist.

“This is why I admire Baek Jong Won’s professionalism, which does not cause cleanliness controversies even though he has appeared on various food entertainment shows,” he added.

On the other hand, episode 2 “Unexpected Business 3” shows the process of cooking kimbap which is considered less hygienic. Apart from not wearing masks, the members were also seen taking food, tasting it with their hands, and touching the food ingredients with their hands again.

In fact, In Sung and friends previously always wore masks in “Unexpected Business” seasons 1 and 2. However, this seems to be due to the obligation to wear masks indoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although the requirement to wear masks indoors has been removed, the Korean Food Sanitation Law requires food service workers to wear masks. All people directly involved in making, processing, cooking or packaging food are required to wear sanitary hats and masks.

However, because none of the members of “Unexpected Business 3” actually work in the restaurant industry, they seem to be unaware of these rules. However, the production team should already know these rules.
