Twinkling Watermelon

“Twinkling Watermelon” has aired 10 episodes. Of all the episodes, Korean journalists revealed that Shin Eun Soo’s acting as Yoon Chung A stood out the most when compared to other actors.

Korean journalists initially praised the script of “Twinkling Watermelon” as having been brilliantly spun in an uplifting direction. Additionally, the musical score seems to evoke nostalgia for the era, among other elements.

Overall, “Twinkling Watermelon” conveys a narrative that feels familiar but still resonates with the audience. The complicated emotional dynamics between the characters are also able to attract the audience’s curiosity about the upcoming episodes.

The acting of Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook and Seol In A was praised as having absolutely no gaps. However, the actor who stood out the most to journalists was Eun Soo. Despite having almost no dialogue due to her deaf role, the actress acts in other ways.

Eun Soo was praised for successfully conveying a spectrum of emotions, from the joy of being near the person she likes to the deep pain she felt due to the abuse of her stepfamily. All of this is shown through her rich expressions and gaze.

On the other hand, the essence of “Twinkling Watermelon” lies in Ha Eun Gyeol’s (Ryeoun) efforts to complete three missions when traveling through time in 1995. The first is to prevent an accident that would rob her father of his hearing.

The second is to enable his mother to learn sign language, so that her “voice” can be heard at home, including by her father. Then the last thing is to thwart Oh Eun Yu (In A) from ruining her parents’ love story.

If the first half of “Twinkling Watermelon” explored the emotional complexity of the four characters, then the second half will definitely focus on whether Eun Gyeol can achieve all his missions. Plus, it seems like Eun Gyeol also has his own love story.
