In his interview in Rolling Stone, V stated that the idea for the title of his album, Layover, came when he was contemplating the ultimate goal in his life and career. Layover, or which means ‘stopover’, illustrates that V doesn’t want to rush to reach the final destination, but rather enjoy the journey. For him, this album is also a new starting line to get to know himself better, as Kim Taehyung.

“I realize that the journey to reach my ultimate goal in life is still very long. There are many ways to get there. So, why don’t we give ourselves a break, look at ourselves, and set new goals?” explained V when answering a question about the reason behind the name of his album.

  1. Even though he is pursuing a solo career, BTS is still the main source of motivation for V

As the last member of BTS to make a solo debut, V is really trying his best to provide the best results. V admitted that he always watched and followed all the performances of his band members. It’s not an exaggeration to say that V is the number one fan of his own team, BTS.

In his interview, V confidently explained, “I’ve never seen anyone else in this world who loves BTS more than me. When observing my teammates, I became more and more motivated. Of course, I’m proud of their achievements, but when I see their passion on stage and how cool they are, I also get teary-eyed and moved.”

  1. V hopes that Layover can also be a place of rest and entertainment for listeners

Through Layover, V is able to produce works that depict his journey. The music and colors he displays through his albums, which are decorated with jazz and classical genres, show his development as a musician. Just like how this album is a new step for V to get to know himself more deeply, V also hopes that his listeners will feel the same way.

“I truly hope that everyone who listens to this album can take this as an opportunity to reflect on their lives, think about their goals, and take time off whenever they need,” he added. His answer shows that even though V may not know for sure regarding his ultimate goal in life, he has a definite goal in releasing this album.

Even though promotional activities for his solo album are almost over, Layover will still be an album full of meaning for V and his listeners. As he said, his journey as a musician is still very long, and there will be further works that will certainly be no less interesting to look forward to. Good luck on your journey V
